Come and stay at my home-from-home by the sea in Sandown, Isle of Wight.

Bring the dog - you’re both very welcome!

Meet your host

A warm welcome from Michelle

Hello, I'm Michelle — Shelly Chalet 80 is mine, and I look after it myself. I moved to the Isle of Wight ten years ago after falling for it on a week's holiday, and I've never looked back. When I started renting the chalet out, I wanted it to feel like the kind of place I'd want to stay myself — comfortable, well looked after, and properly set up for families and dogs, without any of the fuss or the price tag of somewhere fancy.

If you need anything at all while you're here — a recommendation for a walk, the best chippy in Sandown, or just someone to ask — please do give me a call. I'm always happy to help, and I'll always do what I can to sort it for you.

A bit about how I do things

A home from home, down to the last detail

I don’t run a booking platform or a call centre — Shelly Chalet 80 is my own chalet, and when you book with me directly, you’re booking with the person who actually looks after it. I’ve made sure it has everything a family (four-legged members very much included) needs for a relaxed, comfortable, self-catered break: proper beds, a proper kitchen, and enough dog gear that you can turn up with nothing but a lead and still be sorted.

I’ve lived on the Island for ten years now, so if you want to know the best dog walk, the quietest beach, or where to go on a rainy day, you’re only ever a phone call away from a real answer from someone who actually knows.

Our Services

What you get when booking with me

Support before, during and after your stay

When you book with me directly, you're never just a booking number. I'm around before you arrive to answer any questions, during your stay if anything needs sorting, and afterwards too, if you fancy some recommendations for next time. It's the kind of service you only really get from someone who owns the place herself.

Why I love it here

Proud to be based
on the Isle of Wight

I moved to the Island ten years ago after coming for just a week’s holiday, and I never really left. It’s the quiet paths, the green hills, the friendly faces — everything’s just that bit slower and kinder than everyday life. I feel lucky to share it with the people who come and stay, and I love hearing that they’ve fallen for it too.

A few words about staying with me

Why stay with me

My accommodation: A genuine home-from-home, set up for a relaxing family break. Shelly Chalet 80 is a cosy two-bedroom chalet, comfortable and fully kitted out for a relaxed, self-catered stay — nothing grand, just everything you need with free parking on site.

  • Sleeps up to 4, with a double bedroom and bunk beds for the kids

  • A proper little kitchen, with an air fryer for the nights you fancy staying in

  • Two comfy reclining sofas and a dining table to gather round

  • A barn-style front door — fresh air in, without worrying about the dog wandering off

  • A lawn right outside the door, plenty of room for the kids to play safely

Genuinely dog friendly — Your dog is welcome here, not just tolerated — from the walks right outside the door to the cafés in town. Leads, bowls, toys and treats all ready for your dog.

Up on the cliffs — A quiet, peaceful spot with a lovely view over the bay — a nice cup of tea and a sea breeze most mornings.

A short hop to Sandown — A pleasant walk or a quick drive to the pier, the beach and the shops, or hop on the bus that stops right outside.

Plenty close by — A short walk to sandy Yaverland Beach, Wildheart Animal Sanctuary, Dinosaur Isle and Culver Down are all nearby, with more across the Island besides.

Family walking along the beach with children, some with dogs, during daytime with green hills in the background.
A serene coastal scene featuring a sandy beach, turquoise water, and white chalk cliffs topped with greenery under a clear blue sky.
Row of modern mobile homes in a park with green hills and trees in the background.

  • Lovely clean and with a personal touch, Really enjoyed staying there, The 5 o’clock wake up call from the crows was a welcome call being from the country side myself was a great thing, better than hearing seagulls at my girlfriends place who lives in Brighton, The crows kept the seagulls away 😊. Great place to get away.

  • Lovely chalet, 4 adults fitted just fine. Comfortable recliners which were perfect for relaxing in, especially as I have to take breaks through the day due to a disability.

  • We needed a base to see the island and this was perfect! Dog friendly and a lovely area! Great walk down to the beach. Small but had everything we needed! Made us feel welcome with the dogs! Fantastic location and nice and quiet! Loved the stable door so could have the top open and the bottom shut to secure the dogs!
